You’re buying a place with security devices
A new house may come with a home security system. All the devices work, are installed in the best places, and are ready to go. In this case, just turn on the phone to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still come to your home to ensure there are no usability problems, and they may offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a fast trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a one-time set-up cost to make your life a snap. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment or retirement community, turning over the home security service may be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your existing devices with you
You might want to bring along your existing Vivint system with you to a new home when you move. Luckily, it's fairly easy to accomplish, as most smart devices are portable. You can remove each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional expert to take care of everything. Then a pro will set up the same features -- and any smart items you want to add -- in the new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
